| This famous poem went through four editions. You can access four tables giving a comparison, stanza by stanza, between them. The following color code is used: |

| whereas the following would indicate changes between the 1st and 2nd, no changes between the 2nd and 3rd, and finally a reversion, in the 4th, to the 1st edition: |

| Red lettering
is used to highlight word differences between two successive editions,
except in the case of massive differences (usually between the 1st and
2nd). In a few cases, where there were overlapping changes between three
successive editions, not all differences could be highlighted in this way.
English Verses: In these four editions, FitzGerald did a total of 114 different verses (in an odd numerical coincidence, this is also the number of Surahs in the Koran). This is an attempt to bring all of these together into a definitive sequence. Latin Verses: FitzGerald also did 32 verses in Latin. |
